East China’s daily spot market price for purified terephthalic acid (PTA) reached RMB 7,092 per metric ton on October 23, 2026, up RMB 89 per metric ton from the previous assessment. An October 24 report from Zhuochuang Information linked gains in aromatics and polyester feedstocks to rising crude oil prices, as most products in the domestic energy and chemicals spot market moved higher.
The PTA increase places the material within a broader rise across related chemical markets. The report points to crude oil as an upstream price driver; the quoted PTA movement alone does not establish stronger downstream demand or tighter physical supply.

For buyers exposed to PTA spot prices, the immediate issue is a higher quoted raw material cost. If these price levels persist, new purchases could become more expensive. The effect on individual businesses would depend on their purchasing arrangements and timing, while any pressure on margins would also depend on whether selling prices adjust.
The distinction between an upstream price increase and a sustained downstream response matters. Higher feedstock quotations can raise cost expectations, but they do not by themselves show that customers have accepted higher prices or increased orders.
Subsequent crude oil movements, PTA spot assessments and downstream purchasing activity will help indicate whether the October 23 rise develops into sustained cost pressure. For now, the reported movement supports a narrower conclusion: oil-related price strength extended into aromatics and polyester feedstocks, with East China PTA recording a higher daily spot assessment.
